Our Story
Hello! I’m Jennifer and I, along with my mother, Laura, make up the two man team behind Carson Sports Prints. We are a couple of self taught artists based out of central Kentucky.
Laura, a mother of four, has been drawing and painting for most of her adult life. As you can probably imagine, raising four children turned out to be a very demanding task and left her with little time to focus on her artwork in any kind of serious or professional way. But, as the kids got older and commissions started trickling in, she decided it was time to take her hobby a little bit further. Now, in addition to the sports prints business, she is one of central Kentucky’s premier equine artists. You can see some of her other work here.
Laura, a second generation artist herself, very generously passed the artistic gene on to me but until the fall of 2015, my two kids and a career in the customer service industry kept me too busy to focus on much else. The thing about customer service is that it’s not really the kind of career that anyone chooses. It’s the kind of job that people just happen to find themselves in. My job wasn’t really a bad one. It kept the lights on and food on the table but, let’s face it, explaining bills and apologizing for things that aren’t your fault isn’t really anyone’s calling in life.
In the summer of 2015 I was notified that my department was being relocated and was given three choices: relocate along with my job, transfer to another department or take a severance package and leave the company. After a little soul searching and lots of fingernail biting I decided to see what other kind of life was out there for me. So, when they closed the doors in September of 2015, I took the money and ran. It was being able to join Laura and her sport print business that made the decision possible and it’s a decision that I’ve been thankful for every day since.
Laura began doing sports prints in 2003 when her youngest son’s high school soccer coach overspent on the team’s equipment. The team went into full blown panic trying to figure out how to cover the costs. To help the team, Laura designed a soccer print and began selling them at games and tournaments; donating all of the proceeds to the team. At each game she set up a little booth where parents would submit their orders. Then, while the parents watched their kids play, Laura set to work personalizing each print by hand. Everyone loved the idea and the project was much more successful than either she or the team had hoped.
She did it again the following season, donating part of the proceeds and, after again receiving a more positive reaction than she could have hoped for, went about designing prints for some of the other sports offered at her son’s school. Eventually, she began sending out information to other Kentucky schools to see if they would be interested in purchasing her prints as well and the business expanded from there.
After working with Laura and our customers for the past year, I’ve decided that this is where I want to be. Creating this little company together has brought us so many opportunities and a level of freedom and happiness that we wouldn’t have had otherwise and we know that we have you guys to thank. We want you to know that we truly do appreciate your business and are so thankful for every order we receive.

Are the prints in color?
The prints themselves are not in color. The original design for each print was drawn in pencil so the print will be in shades of black, white and gray.
Can color be added to the print?
The blank prints are created in bulk and are printed in the same pencil shades as the original. We do offer the option to have the name and number drawn onto the jersey in the color of your choosing but the rest of the print will still be in shades of black, white and gray. We aren’t able to add custom colors to the actual artwork itself.
Our team uses different brands for our equipment. Can the logos on the sports equipment be changed?
No, we don’t offer the option to add, remove or change the brands.
Are the prints framed?
No, we don’t offer framed prints.
What size mat or frame do I need to get?
The prints are designed to fit any 11” x 17” frame or mat. Frames and mats can be purchased at any hobby or art store such as Hobby Lobby or Michaels.
I would like to have a print done for the a coach, general manager or stats person. Is there something you guys can do?
Absolutely! We can figure out a layout that will work for anybody. For coaches, we generally draw “COACH” at the top of the jersey and then draw the coach’s name below that. For a general manager or stats person, the name is usually on top of the jersey with “GM”, “00”, or the team’s mascot drawn where the player’s number usually goes.
Still have questions? Just let us know. We’re happy to help in anyway we can!
